Who We Are
We design, develop, and construct an off-road vehicle on an annual basis for competition in the SAE Baja Collegiate Design Series.
We as a team are committed to maintaining the high standard of engineering excellence for which UIUC is known. From design to fabrication, we incorporate the skills we have learned in class and the workplace so that we know we are building the best car we can.
Our team structure allows all members to become actively involved regardless of age or skill level. We operate by the mantra of training new members quickly and getting a tool in their hands, so if hands-on work is what you’re looking for, then you’ve found it!
Where We Work
The Engineering Student Project Lab (ESPL) is home to many of the student societies on campus. We share lab space with the other Society of Automotive Engineers teams as well as Rube Goldberg, iRobotics, and Eco-Concept. We are lucky because we get access to some great machinery in this lab, and it is a great place to learn fabrication skills and get the hands-on work you’ve been looking for. So join us at Baja and get started in the ESPL today!
A Note About Our Past
The Off-Road Illini has always been proud to be affiliated with the University of Illinois and we are incredibly grateful for those who have paved the way for us to be where we are today.
That said, we understand that some of the logos and pictures that have been put on past cars are no longer accepted, or even used by our school. It would be wrong to completely ignore these decisions, but we also want to emphasize that these are outdated and no longer reflect what we as a team think is appropriate.
