How to Get Involved

For prospective members:

Baja is one of the best ways to put your engineering skills to use outside of the classroom—we are always open to new members from all majors! To get involved with our team, start by coming to one of our general meetings! We have 5 sub-teams available to join depending on your interests (drivetrain, suspension, chassis, electronics/testing, and business). All of the team leads are at our general meetings for you to ask more questions.

We also meet for a shop day at the Engineering Student Projects Laboratory (“the shop”) every Saturday from 12 – 3 PM to work on the cars and manufacture parts.

For any other questions, please email us and we will respond ASAP. To see some sick photos and videos of what our team does, check out our Instagram, YouTube, and other pages on this website. Can’t wait to see you!

For our new members:

Make sure you are a member of our Slack channel for all the cool Baja updates!  If you need access to Slack or have any questions about the team, ask a leadership member during GM or shoot an email to our Outreach Director, Ryan Kuczynski, and we’ll gladly help.

To get started, make sure you have ESPL access. Ryan can help you out if you have any questions about that! (Message him on Slack, the preferred communication method for current members.) Getting access includes making sure all your information is on the roster, submitting the DRS training certificates, and taking the ESPL safety test.

Next, sign up for our floating shop slots that get sent out on the Slack channel every week. Just show up for your slot and get some gears working. We are excited to see you get more involved!
